According to the SACE report on Italian exports, after the excellent results of 2022, 2023 is also preparing to be a year of enormous success for Made in Italy exporters. In the base scenario, which discounts a gradual resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict over the next year, Italian exports of goods in value will grow by +5% this year.
Furthermore, Italian exports should benefit from the diversification of destination markets, with an increase in exports to countries outside the European Union. Countries such as the United States, China and Japan should represent Italy’s main trading partners, with export growth of 9.8%, 8.2% and 5.4%, respectively.
In some markets, Italian exports will show a particularly lively dynamic. In this sense, the positive legacy of Expo Dubai and the public investment plan in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the “Vision 2030” project in Saudi Arabia, could act as a driving force for sales, especially of capital goods.
In Mexico and Colombia Italian companies will be able to seize supply opportunities by integrating into the supply chains of national players, in sectors ranging from electrical appliances to means of transport, from chemistry to agri-food.
Among the advanced countries, the United States will give a further boost to the energy transition from which opportunities may derive for Italian companies operating in the instrumental mechanics and electrical appliances sectors; the green turnaround, also supported by the NGEU, will encourage Italian exports of these sectors to Spain as well.
